Many civil wars today are fueled by child soldiers who are directed by cell phone technology, a key communication instrument of war. In contrast, women directed by cell phone technology have acted together and enabled peace talks to be successful. How can cell phones and technology further their voice for peace and peace making? This presentation discusses how cell phone technology and video games can empower youth and women to promote peacemaking and peace building. Robert A. Creo, Board Member - Mediators Beyond Borders Robert A. Creo received his B.A. in 1974 from Brandeis University and received his J.D. in 1977 from Washington University of Law. Mr. Creo is a mediator, arbitrator and educator. He is an Adjunct Professor at University of Pittsburgh School of Law. He has arbitrated or mediated over 4,000 days since 1979, including catastrophic loss claims, complex commercial transactions, construction, employment and interpersonal disputes. He has been retained to serve as a consultant in complex litigation and as an expert witness. For many years, he had served as a neutral for professional football, baseball and the U. S. Senate. His publications are numerous and he is internationally recognized as an educator in conflict resolution, and has worked extensively in Eastern Europe. He has served as a founder and leader in numerous dispute resolution entities. He is one of the founders of Mediators Beyond Borders, a non-profit, humanitarian organization established to partner with communities worldwide to build their conflict resolution capacity for preventing, resolving and healing from conflict. This partnership involves the design and implementation of sustainable peace building initiatives responsive to the needs and culture of the communities, and to the history of each conflict. As a Board Member of MBB Mr. Creo has traveled to Ghana and Monrovia providing Mediator Training and working on a Child Soldier Initiative project.
